Please include your Mac model, macOS version, the Roomwell version (Roomwell › About Roomwell), and what happened. A screenshot helps. Copy Report in Roomwell puts a text summary on your clipboard; it includes file and folder names, software details, and full paths that may contain your Mac account name. Look it over and remove anything you don’t want to share before pasting it into an email. Please don’t send passwords or payment details.
Common questions
Why does Roomwell ask for my home folder?
Roomwell uses macOS folder permissions to access your home folder. To measure caches, downloads and other space hogs, Roomwell asks you to select your home folder once in the standard Open window. Choose the folder with your account name itself, not a folder inside it. Without it, Roomwell still checks system-wide items, Intel-only apps and your battery.
What do “Safe to remove” and “Review first” mean?
Safe to remove means the files are rebuilt automatically when needed, such as caches of installed apps and build files. Review first means the files may be yours to keep, such as old downloads, large files and caches Roomwell doesn’t recognize. Remove in its app means the right place is another app, such as Xcode or Messages, and Roomwell explains how.
Some categories say “Needs Full Disk Access.”
macOS keeps a few folders private, such as iPhone backups and Messages attachments. To include them, open System Settings › Privacy & Security › Full Disk Access, turn on Roomwell (use the + button if it isn’t listed), then choose Scan Again. This is optional.
Where do removed items go?
To the Trash. Roomwell asks before moving anything and never deletes files outright. To restore something, open the Trash in the Dock, select the item, and choose File › Put Back. The space is freed once you empty the Trash.
Why was an app’s cache skipped?
Roomwell leaves the caches of apps that are open alone, and checks again right before moving anything. Quit the app, then try again.
I moved items to the Trash, but the free space barely changed.
Space returns when you empty the Trash. macOS can also take a minute to update its free-space figure, and some space is shared between files or held by local snapshots, which macOS manages itself.
What should I do about Intel-only apps?
Check each developer’s website for an Apple silicon version, or look for an alternative. Apple says Intel-only apps won’t run on macOS 28, with an exception for certain older games. See Apple’s guidance.
How do I restore my purchase on another Mac?
Sign in to the App Store with the same Apple Account, open Roomwell, choose Unlock Cleanup in the sidebar, then Restore Purchase.
How do I ask for a refund?
Purchases are handled by Apple. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Does Roomwell speed up my Mac or remove malware?
No. Roomwell explains what’s using your disk and helps you clear it with care. It doesn’t clean memory, run in the background, or scan for malware.
