Data in the app
Roomwell does not collect or transmit personal data to Skirnir Studios. It has no account system, advertising, analytics or tracking, and it makes no network requests of its own. Roomwell does not upload scan results. You can choose to copy a report and share it yourself. We do not sell personal data or share it for advertising.
What Roomwell reads
To run its checks, Roomwell reads information on your Mac:
- Storage: the names, sizes and dates of files and folders in specific locations, such as caches, logs, developer folders and Downloads. It reads your home folder only after you select it in the macOS Open window, and protected folders only when macOS permissions allow access. Some locations may require Full Disk Access in addition to folder access.
- Intel-only software: the names, versions and processor type of apps, plug-ins and drivers in your Applications and Library folders.
- Background items: the launch configuration files in your Library and the system Library.
- Battery: capacity, cycle count and charge information provided by macOS.
Roomwell does not open or read the contents of your documents, photos or messages.
What Roomwell stores
Roomwell keeps a permission bookmark for the home folder you chose, so it doesn’t have to ask again, and your app settings. These stay in Roomwell’s own storage on your Mac. Scan results are kept only while the app is open. Copy Report places a text summary on your clipboard only when you choose it; the summary includes file and folder names, software details, and full file paths that may contain your Mac account name. Review it before sharing. Copies you paste into other apps, save, or send are managed separately from Roomwell.
Cleanup
Roomwell moves items to the Trash only after you confirm. It does not delete files outright; items stay in the Trash until you empty it.
Purchases
The optional Cleanup unlock is sold through the Mac App Store. Apple processes the payment; we do not receive your payment details. Roomwell asks the App Store whether the unlock has been purchased through Apple’s StoreKit framework. Apple handles purchases, distribution and any diagnostics you choose to share with Apple under its own privacy policy.
If you contact support
If you email admin@skirnirstudios.com, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments you choose to send. We use this information to respond to your request and resolve issues. Email is handled through Gmail and the email services involved in delivery. Send only information relevant to your request.
We keep support correspondence while needed to handle the request and related issues, or where retention is legally required. You can ask to access or delete correspondence by contacting the same address. We do not use support emails for advertising or mailing lists.
Removing your data
Quitting Roomwell clears its in-memory scan results. Removing the app may leave local settings and its saved home-folder permission bookmark on your Mac; do not assume uninstalling erases that local data. Contact us if you need help removing Roomwell’s saved settings. You can turn off Roomwell’s Full Disk Access in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Full Disk Access. Reports you copy, save, or send, and any backups, must be managed separately. Roomwell does not send scan data to Skirnir Studios; support correspondence you choose to send is handled as described above.
This website
The Skirnir Studios website is separate from Roomwell. Optional Google Analytics loads here only after you allow it. You can decline or change your choice using Analytics preferences in the footer. Hosting providers also process technical request information to deliver and protect these pages. These website practices are separate from the app’s on-device scanning. Children
Roomwell does not request anyone’s name, age, email address or other personal information. We do not knowingly solicit personal information from children. A parent or guardian can contact us about a child’s support correspondence.
Changes and contact
