About this policy

This policy covers the Skirnir Studios website. Our apps and games have their own privacy policies, linked from their individual app and game pages.

The website has no visitor accounts or contact forms. Site images, audio previews, and fonts are served with the site.

Optional analytics

With your permission, we use Google Analytics to understand visits, traffic sources, pages viewed, and interactions such as outbound link clicks. Analytics uses cookies and sends usage and device/browser information to Google. We do not enable advertising personalization or Google signals.

Analytics does not load until you allow it. You can decline and still use the website, or change your choice using Analytics preferences on each page. Your choice is stored in this browser.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, optional analytics stays off even if you previously allowed it. To allow analytics, first turn off that browser signal and reload the page, then use Analytics preferences.

This includes Testimonia, Antikythera, and Ptolemy’s Cosmos. With consent, these tools record page visits and one tool-use event per page load when you interact with their controls. That event identifies only the tool, not your search text, selected authors, dates, or passages. Your analytics choice applies across this website in this browser.

Mehen playtest

Taking part in the Mehen playtest is optional and for adults only. If you take part, the page sends us a record of each game you play: the numbers hidden and guessed, how long each choice took, how the game went, your answers to the questions, any comment you write, and whether you used a touch screen or a narrow screen. Your browser keeps a random code so we can link your games together, and remembers that you agreed to take part. We don’t collect your name, email or any account details, and the playtest page doesn’t use cookies or analytics.

The results are stored by Cloudflare, which runs our results server. Cloudflare receives your IP address in order to deliver each request, but we don’t store it; we keep only the date each game arrives. We use the results in a research study and publish them openly with it. Comments are never published. Because nothing identifies you, we can’t find or remove a particular game once it has been sent. The playtest closes on 30 November 2026.

Hosting & security

The website is hosted through OpenAI Sites. The hosting provider receives technical information needed to deliver and protect the pages, such as your IP address and browser request information. See OpenAI’s privacy policy for its privacy practices.

The hosting platform also uses Cloudflare security services, which may run security checks and set cookies such as __cf_bm to protect against automated abuse. These protections are separate from optional analytics. See Cloudflare’s cookie information.

Our shop & external links

Our Fourthwall shop has its own cookie controls and privacy policy. Where permitted, the shared Analytics setup helps us understand visits between the studio site and shop.

When you follow links to music services, social networks, app websites, or other external sites, their own privacy policies apply.

Your choices and analytics retention

You can withdraw consent at any time using Analytics preferences. Choosing Decline stops optional analytics and clears the Google Analytics cookies accessible to this website in your browser. This does not delete data already sent to Google.

Our Google Analytics property is configured to retain event-level data for 2 months and user-level data for 14 months. The user-data retention period resets when new activity is received from that user. These settings do not limit most standard reports, which use aggregated data. Contact & email

Email links open your chosen email app; sending a message is your choice. If you email us, we receive the email address, message, and attachments you choose to send. We use them to answer your request and investigate any issues you report, and keep correspondence only as needed for those purposes.
